Audio
When we talk about audio equipment we are talking about a multi-varied subject with a multitude of subcategories of audio equipment, products and services that encompasses the term Audio.
Audio categories would include retail audio with the sub headings for product ranges like; Hi Fi separates, surround sound systems, home cinema, amplifiers, speakers, plasma TV’s, LCD TV’s, DVD readers/ writers, Blu Ray readers/writers, video players, tape recorders, car audio and last but not least record players.
There are the Audio categories that deal with the commercial sector that would include the categories office, factory, warehouse, clubs, pubs, conferencing, sporting events, recording studios and churches. These sectors would include such subcategories as; amplifiers, public address systems, loud speakers, recording studio mixers and microphones.
The above examples are by no means a comprehensive list of audio categories and sub-categories there are a lot more but it illustrates the size and complexity of the subject called Audio.
Leading manufacturers in the audio industry must include companies like Bosch, Panasonic, Phillips, LG, Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, Yamaha, Vivanco and Hitachi. Again, don’t take this as an exhaustive list there are many other good Audio manufacturers.
When looking to buy audio equipment make sure you know what you are looking for, by that I mean know what you want the equipment for, what you want it to do. For example if you want speakers for a factory environment where there is lots of humidity you don’t want cabinet speakers fixing to the walls as they will fall apart in no time what you need are multi-directional speakers specifically designed to work in a factory environment.
If you are looking for a new flat screen TV and you watch a lot of sports on TV you need a screen that has a fast refresh rate otherwise you will see a trail when watching fast moving objects such as a fast moving football.
If the first thing you need to know is what you want it to do, the second should be is how much do you want to pay for your audio equipment as you can buy a flat screen TV for under £200 or you can pay over a thousand pounds for one. Set a budget for your audio equipment and get the best quality that you can afford, as with all things, don’t be fooled into buying the cheapest if the cheapest isn’t going to do what you want it to do, if the after sales service has a bad reputation or if the shop/company may not be there next year, always purchase the best you can afford.
