Plasma TV or LCD TV

If you are in the market for a new Plasma TV or LCD TV you are probably wondering which format to go for. There are so many stories in circulation saying that you must go for a plasma TV as they are better than LCD or you must go for an LCD TV because they are better than plasma.

The truth of the matter is that if you are looking for a new television and you want a flat screen TV then it is personal preference whether you go for a plasma or LCD TV.

Yes there are differences, plasma TVs have darker blacks where as LCD TVs colours are brighter and vibrant. But these descriptions on colour are perspective, some would say that bright and vibrant where another would say light and no depth.

Some people like a high contrast television image where as others like a low contrast, like wise with colour and brightness and that is why all plasma and lcd TVs have a control panel where you can adjust to your personal taste the colour, brightness and contrast.

Which ever camp you decide to join be it the plasma TV set or the LCD TV set you will have plenty of company and in all probability you will stick to whichever platform you started with for other flat screen TVs you buy in the future.

A better discussion would be to discuss the size of your new plasma TV or lcd TV. All televisions are measured on the diagonal including your old television set that had a tube but most plasma TV and lcd TVs are longer but narrower so the visible area on a 32” plasma TV or LCD TV is going to be less than on a 32” CRT television, in fact you are going to have to get a 42” flat screen plasma or lcd TV to get the same size images as a 32” normal TV. The reason for the longer and narrower flat screen TVs is that most programs and films are now in the 16:9 format as opposed to the 4:3 format.

With old CRT TVs if you had a large screen in a small room you would see all the lines that made up the image where today with plasma TVs and lcd TVs you don’t see any lines no matter how big your screen.
