HD LCD TV are available in many sizes from 14 inch to 65 inch, having said that the TV’s above 50 inch are usually LCD panels that need hooking up to TV tuners or computers and are usually for commercial use like advertising.
When it comes to HDTV and flat screen TV’s you are going to into one of two groups and they are HD Plasma TV or HD LCD TV. Which one is better is down to personal taste for the majority of us. Both LCD and Plasma TV’s are exceptionally good. You are going to like one more than the other, either because you prefer brighter colours or because you like true blacks. The debate will probably go on as long as Beta Max and VHS did but without any true winner as they are both being sold in equal quantities.
The general rule of thumb is that you don’t go bigger than 50 inch with an HD LCD TV and you should insist on a refresh rate of above 120 Hz if you like sports, this is because 120 Hz refresh rate illuminates motion blur.
HD LCD TV is renowned for the quality and clarity of bright vibrant colours. Programs that are broadcast in HD watched on a HD LCD TV are just fantastic, as are blue ray films played through a blu ray player viewed on an HD LCD TV.
When purchasing a new HD LCD TV make sure you have enough external interface ports for all your Audio equipment. If you have a blu ray player, video player/recorder, surround sound Home Cinema system, game consul, video camera not to mention your computer you are probably going to want to hook these up to your TV, if you do you are going to need multiples of these type of ports; HDMI, DVI, VGA, S video, Audio, IEEE 1394, PC input: analog RGB, Optical digital Audio and USB.
HD LCD TV’s are thin, between 3 to 5 inches so you have a choice of hanging them on a wall to watch or by having a TV stand that sits on a cabinet or table.
