DVD player

If you want to watch DVD’s of your favourite films, you will need a basic DVD player. They are good value for money and will give you a great digital picture. If you want to watch home movies, play Mp3 files, playback files from a USB or SD external hard drive, or record from the TV onto a built in hard drive, you are going to need a DVD player with a few more features.

There’s a huge amount of functions and brands for you to choose from. You’ll also need to determine that your new DVD player will fit with your existing TV and Audio system. A perfect way to determine which DVD player is going to have all the features you need, is to go online. Stores online give you clear product descriptions and specifications, including input and output socket specifications, disc formats, how many hours recording time, and digital Audio output etc.

Some DVD players have the capability to record your favourite programmes directly onto a built in hard drive. It means you don’t need VHS tapes or recordable DVD discs to record your programmes. The programmes are recorded directly to the hard drive, and then can be watched, saved or deleted. The larger the hard drive the more programmes you will be able to store, so if you’re a TV addict make sure your DVD player has a large capacity hard drive.

Most of us have a collection of home videos recorded onto VHS tapes that we would like to transfer onto DVD. You can transfer from old VHS tape onto a DVD disc, with a DVD recorder with VHS VCR. They are easy to use. Put your home movie VHS tape and a new recordable DVD disc into the machine, and the recorder will record from the VHS to DVD disc. It will alert you when the DVD is full and stop the VHS tape from playing further, so you can continue recording to a new DVD disc from where you left off. You can then watch your home movies from DVD. Many DVD VHS recorders have a built in feature that will clean up your videos as they record.
